    Exhaust whistle when valve opens?

So driving round Tassie we were getting video from GoPros. On the exhaust, it seems my car is whistling when the valves open up at 4k. Sidebar: I'm staggered how quiet it is from the back until the valve opens! I've heard it before from the cabin and figured as it's a stock 340 it may be the...

    Disable Alarm

Hey guys, I'm heading across the bass on the Spirit. I've been advised to deactivate the car alarm. Nothing in the manual, can't see anything here for the VF. Any ideas, or will it be ok? Some comments in a ZB thread suggested that system won't go off for motion?

UK equivalent of the Commodore/Falcon going

Saw this story. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/the-ford-fiesta-will-soon-be-dead/ Current Fiesta is going in 2023, with no replacement announced. Been around for ever. No longer in top ten sold lists. Everyone has driven one (I learned in one) Reminded me of the end of the Falcadore. I'm...

Holden Display at Birdwood Motoring Museum

Had a long weekend in Adelaide so went back to Birdwood for first time since 2012. Great new Holden display with lots of the cool concepts that I'd buy tomorrow. Gimme that Coupe 60 o_O Full set here

    Locking wheelnut storage location

Not to sound too much like a wheel thief.... But.. Can anybody share where the locking wheelnut lives on the VF? Got my tyres fitted today and they left it in the cabin, but can't for the life of me find where it goes in the spare wheel well. There doesn't seem to be a neat hole for it to sit.

    VFIII Conjecture

A really interesting post over on the SS forums about what you might see in a Series 3 VF. Thought it was worth cross-linking. https://www.ssforums.com/threads/hypothetical-2018-2020-chevrolet-ss-refresh-feature-wishlist.197147/ I'd buy one of these. Good photoshop skills too!

    Watchmen 2019 HBO series

I'm well behind on this, but finally watched this series over the last few weeks. It's a great series, creative episodes, magnificently shot and with a cracking score. It weaves really well into the original comic, but tells its own story. I'm not sure you'd enjoy it that much without some...

    Carbon intake for LS3

Randomly came across this. Sounds immense at the end of the vid. Not crazy money either. Do you reckon you could squeeze it under a slightly modded bonnet? Sticks well out of the corvette one... Love a good intake noise, the carbon one on the E46 M3 CSL was also a very nice sound...

Air intake in the engine bay

I was reading a magazine article about the Rocketeer V6 MX5 conversion. Great kits, using an aluminium Jag V6 which is lighter than the original cast iron 4pot so weight distribution is unaffected. One of their latest developments is a bespoke air intake to fit under the normal Mk1/2 bonnet. I...

Old magazine article GTS-R vs M5 vs E55

Going through some old magazines and came across this article from 2000 in UK CAR. I recall reading it fondly as a near learner driver. I was besotted by the E39 M5, but the HSV had an allure even then. Got a great write up against stiff completion. Not sure about the red leather though...

    D Segment saloon sales 2020

Opel/Vauxhall Insignia was so popular it finished 23rd, behind the Peugeot 405 retooling in India!! Plucky ZB Commodore in there for the last time, at 30th. Beat a couple of cars, but outsold by two hydrogen fuel cell cars.

    Derek's Fabulous Green HSV

Some discussions today on here got me thinking I should post some pictures. I moved to Australia last March from the UK, and fancied a car that made some noise. A bit of hunting around Redlines almost had me set on one, but then randomly spotted a low mileage 2014 HSV. I'm not a fan of forced...

    Replacement driver's side mirror glass

I'm fed up of the binocular vision my drivers side mirror gives me. Quite why you need to be able to read the numberplate of a car behind you at 100yds, but not see beside you, is beyond me. A bit of googling shows a few options (flat, convex. Via ebay/glass sellers) Anybody done a switch...

    Rear fog lights

Hi all, I did a search but couldn't seem to find anything on this topic. Its been foggy the past couple of days here and I was looking for the rear fog light switch in my new (to me) gen-f R8. I've had a proper look round the cabin and even consulted the handbook, it's not mentioned anywhere...
