Just driving my wife's MY14 L77 VF to work ... and notice the check engine light is on.
Oh **** oh **** oh ****.
Park at work, pop bonnet (I mean what am I going to see - right?) - fark where's the oil filler cap?!
It's right there next to the hole ... it can't have popped off, surely that's...
Hey are these instructions accurate?
https://www.autoinstruct.com.au/manufacturer/holden/vf-commodore/vf-using-trolley-jacks-and-jack-stands/
The main thing I’m wondering about is their claim you can safely use the front crossmember or the diff (although getting a jack under there could be a...
CarSales have announced their Best Used Cars of 2023, here.
"Why, oh Forg", I hear you say, "would we even care?"
[OK I know half of you are likely to have seen the clickbait/emails]
Some time over the Christmas / New Year break, the breadcrumbs have disappeared.
That is, if I'm in the VF forum-section, then I choose a particular thread/topic, once I'm in that thread/topic there's no way to go up a level as the "breadcrumbs" allowing me to click up a level are no longer...
Looking for thoughts & suggestions here …
I got a new iPhone 13 Mini earlier this week, 5+yo battery on old ‘phone is rubbish plus it’s not got enough memory.
First time using it with VF today, and I’ve got one of the same problems as with the old ‘phone (with latest iOS admittedly) … if I plug...
Was waiting in a car-park this morning, wanted to listen to CD while I waited but the player kept ejecting the CD after claiming it was trying to read it for about 5 seconds.
Did this a few times.
No problems playing while driving there, or while driving home.
Anyone know if this is a normal...
... so the lights keep coming on (notsomuch a problem) but more importantly the MyLink screen is near impossible to see.
It seems like only direct sunlight convinces it.
Is there a sensitivity setting in the config? Do I just need to clean R2D2’s head?
Got this message last night ... is there a sensor/calculator thingy of some sort like a lot of Euros have so it actually knows the oil needs changing, or is it a time/distance thing and the guy who serviced it last week forgot to reset it?
I did the first oil-change I've done on the VF this afternoon; tried to get the hoist's pads under the jacking-points for the one that comes in the car, and it wasn't possible - the garage just isn't big enough to get the front arms SHORT enough to reach that spot.
I managed to do the...
Normally I take the VF to a really good guy for service (he seems happy to do it - although doing stuff like rebuilding a neglected 308 Dino’s powertrain or building a competitive race-car are more the area of stuff that he does well & others don’t), but thanks to the black-market...
I’ve only seen the scissor-jack in the boot for the first time recently ... frankly the idea of jacking the painted undersides of our car using that metal Thing horrifies me slightly, I hope we never get a flat while on the move!
But it did occur to me, maybe I need to get one of those rubber...
Hi all,
Driving home yesterday, I had a merge into an 80 zone from a sharp left-turn leading to a fairly short slip-road, so a fairly large amount of the right welly was applied to get up to traffic speed. This is a pre-flappy-paddle VF1 Redline which I don't trust dealers with so the only...
The only car I've ever previously owned with plastic headlights, I didn't actually own; it was my wife's Sherman Tank EF wagon, and we didn't give a toss about that ...
However I'm seeing a friend's 9yo Nissan N-Trail has the dreaded cataracts, my Volvo's nearly 40 years old & it's got clear...
It seems that the hamfisted gronks at the panelbeater have busted my ... doohickey.
And I need to know what to call the doohickey in order to search for one! :)
Inside the boot of a wagon, above the little storage pocket on the driver's size, there's a removable piece of trim which is an...
Because I dunno who reads what part of the forum, and also because Shannon's 'recommended' panel beater is quite crap ... anyone around the north of Sydney got a panel-beater they can recommend for repairing the VF?
I'm particularly concerned over paint matching; Regal Peacock must be the worst...
To fuel the tribalism ... it was an XR8 driver who drove into the side of our previously-pristine VF ... neither my better-half nor I have bought a new car before, so it's kinda annoying that the car is going to be multiple mismatched colours the rest of it's life. :(
But anyhoo - we're in...
I'm getting a 2-post hoist installed (yay!)(actually I can hear the installation happening as I type this! :) ), and a friend with a Cayman was showing me the screw-in jacking pads available for his car (he's got factory adjustable suspension and wants to mess with it on my hoist). It seems...
Hi all,
I was just introduced to a concept I've not seen before, but which seems like a great idea ... the idea of pads or plates that screw into a pre-existing threaded hole at your jacking-points.
A mate is getting a set that look like this:
... when you want it up on jacks with no chance...
I'm hoping this is a dumb question; but it's just occurred to about the whole staggered thing, the spare must be the same size as the fronts, and timandhayley said that there are certainly some Holden wheel designs that won't clear the front brakes ... so, surely it's OK to be fitting the spare...
I know "Gracenote" is used, but don't know what that means.
When playing off the USB stick, MyLink displays icons I've never seen before. Example, a Joe Cocker track off the Bodyguard soundtrack (yeah, yeah, I know :) ) ... ripped off CD to iTunes years ago, CDDB used to assign cover-art off...
I can't see myself ever doing anything about it ... well OK, maybe I might, because it doesn't affect ride-height & we can't really afford to lose ride-height ... but does anyone know which parts they've changed in the FE3 suspension for VF2?
Is it just springs & sways? Or shocks too? Or...
I've tried searching, and can't see any answers to this ... however, it seems some people have no problems connecting their Android 'phone to MyLink via the USB connection, yet others are having problems? Interestingly, seems like most posts about trouble mention a Samsung Galaxy S, which is...
I've looked in the owner's manual, and can't see anything which tells me the car is definitely doing this ... but I'm sure the aircon settings & also the centre-stack display are different when I drive with my key-fob in the pocket, as compared to when my better half is driving. ie. I've got it...
After failing to search properly the first time, I've asked a question which it turns out has been asked many times before ... is there a way to pull a thread before a mod approves it?
Just posting pictures of the new car we just bought ... :D
I'm not kidding, we did actually buy that!
I suspect if you live anywhere around the Camden area, you might have seen it in the dealer. It only had 70km on the clock when we first got in it, so it mustn't have been driven around...
Since a search answers the original question, I'll make it more all-encompassing ... there's no Haynes or Gregory's or what-have-you yet for a VF, is there?
I've got workshop manuals for ancient Escorts & Volvos, is there an affordable workshop manual for VF's that a numpty such as myself could use?
