So, who has watched the first two episodes of season 5 (new hosts)?
I must say it's evident that Blair (Moog) is the only one with any automotive knowledge, so many other options they could've gone with. Feels heavily scripted, like they're just reading off the sales brochure.
Hopefully as they spend more time together and in the role it improves, time will tell.

I wasn't impressed, but, I thought with Moog in it there was hope and was expecting more of the stuff like MCM, and more stuff relating to Australia, weirdly, it seems that a low budget YouTube series like MCM, that focuses on Average Joe car builds, is 1000x better than a big budget endeavour with fancy pants cars and more support that you could throw a stick at

I'm a hard no for Top Gear Australia

You could tell Moog was limited due to the poor script, plus, they didn't show the man in a good light IMO, meanwhile I have no idea on who the other 2 Muppets were, and nothing about them impressed me, again, maybe due to the poor scripts they had to work with

Even the family thought it was crap

There's lots of Australian cars, both domestic and import, and Australian locations, that would have worked better, for the first couple of episodes at least

Every episode of MCM, short, or long, were better than TGA

Meanwhile I am subscribed to MCM, Skid Factory, BCW, Nugget Garage and even Carnage all of which are 1000x funnier and have way more useful information and excitement

TGA reminds me of the latest rubbish from Hollywood, just repeating old stuff and riding on the coat tails of others, with nothing original to show for it

Yeah... They probably lost a big chunk of the budget over the yellow paperweight in ep. 1
To be fair though, that was a very fast car on a very sketchy road and idk that moog really has much experience in exotics other that the lotus which I immediately start arguing with myself over whether or not a lotus is strictly an exotic in terms of handling etc. I'm sure Clarkson said something along the lines of: can it steer or brake... no ... Well then it's a hypercar.

That's always been top gear's theme though, journalism over mechanical information. I do agree with the above sentiment though.
I enjoyed it regardless because they've got Moog, but it did feel like he was very much constrained and on rails.
Probably the best thing about Clarkson and his team was his proclivity to go off script at every opportunity and wing it.

I had to google the other 2. JLPs name had me trying to work out the family connection. His accent annoyed me so much in the first ep that I was googling to see if he was American in Aust, or an Aussie living in the states.

JLP = Former Adelaide bloke who was an ER doctor for 3 yrs then followed his brother to the states to become an actor? - odd cat.

the bogan footy player playing up the bogan factor doesn't really interest me.

I will give it a few more eps to see if it improves or not.

Side note - we are watching the early 2000s TG UK - watching the early banter between C/H/M is funny in retrospect - maybe these aussie boys will pull it together?
