The casting marks (or I should say, the engraved marks) on the staggered set of HF-20 that came with my 2016 VF2 Redline Ute.

I was told they are not forged and only the Series 1 VF Redline came with forged rims.
Did you clarify that they weren't confused?

I ask because Holden were VERY LOUD about the optional HF20's as being forged ... and the person who told you might have gotten confused because VF2 Redline had cast alloys which looked near identical to the forged VF1 MY15-only Redline alloys ... so I'm proposing that maybe they'd confused "VF2 Redline wheels aren't forged" with meaning the HF20's as well as the standard wheels?

I'm not a fan of black rims either as I don't believe black suits many colours,
Some may disagree, but I think the silver wheels on my old R8 makes the car look better than my mate's GTS with black wheels on red!

^ I would be equally as happy with the wheels on yours if they were black, it’s the double-spoke of the wheel that I un-prefer on your mate’s one. That plus the chrome window-surround that doesn’t match any other trim, and your bootlid spoiler was better too. :)

The Clubsport with the spoiler option to me, is a better looking car than the GTS. I don't the like yellow brake calipers or the black exhaust tips on the GTS along with the chrome window trim and rear spoiler.

Silver rims are easier to cope with if the wife drives the car… gutter rash is easily noticed on black alloy rims

"Gutter rash" a term that implies poor judgement and carelessness better described as crap driving is normal!
Though I agree with the more accurate description, one would never state it like that to the other half unless they don’t mind sleeping outside curled up with the dog to stay warm :p

A proper forged wheel is machined from a billet that has been compacted with extreme force to a particular standard, the reason a good set aftermarket forged wheels today are round 8k.

There's few claims of forged wheels that I'm a bit skeptical are the real deal.

When my wife kerbed a wheel on my week-old VR GTS in 1995 with great composure to avoid losing my cool, I told her she needs to be more careful, and I'll have to buy a new wheel, she apologised and said ok.

I got my wife to pick the new wheel up and write the cheque to pay for it, a stupid price around $650 by memory.

Miraculously, she's never kerbed a wheel since!

I always thought of it as a really judgemental term, exaggerating the badness in the act of applying the rash by using an overtly understated term!

Having said that, I’ve scratched the Commode’s wheels on potholes I couldn’t avoid, but also on concrete car-park dividers that can’t be seen from inside the car and a pointy-outy bit of concrete in the work car-park, as well as at least once on a gutter. The VF is the first car I’ve ever had this issue with, dunno why, I think maybe ‘cos it’s the widest car I’ve ever had by a fair bit?
