VE 2011 SV6 Ticking Noise - Lifter noise?

Not related to your noise but i had one once that kept ticking from the drivers side even after new lifters and chains, pulled heads and found a small piece of oil filter element stuck in one of the oil ports, as pressure built up with rpm it would move slightly and restrict flow, let it idle...

    VE IQ Map update files

Hi everyone, Ive searched the forums and found a lot of mention of the files I am looking for but no information of where to find them. I am searching for the map update files for the VE IQ system. My car still has the original maps from its manufacture in 2011 and my street is not even on...

    VS V8 over fueling

They have to be a long way out to throw a code normal operating range is like -40 to 200 (cant remember exactly for the 304 but around there). An open circuit will also default to full cold temp usually. A TPS has a small range of .5 to 4.5v and is far more sensitive to small differances from spec

    VS V8 over fueling

Well he has already tried a coolant temp sensor so its a non issue now. But a coolant temp sensor can still be within the ecus acceptable temperature range but the incorrect temperature, so no codes will log for it. The other way is to check resistance of sensor at different temps and compare to...

    VS V8 over fueling

If you read my earlier comment I already explained the 2 sensors. And also the single wire sensor does not feedback to the ecu, therefore checking the live data with a scan tool will give you the information required from the correct coolant temp sensor. So not misleading at all.

    VS V8 over fueling

Yeah if engine thinks it is at -40° it will over fuel like hell. If it still has a circuit it may not throw a code. Need to check the live data and see what the temp reading is at to confirm. Checking injectors is also never a bad idea, had quite a few in recent years with stuck injectors.

    VS V8 over fueling

Coolant temp sensor is a common fault of 304s, there is 2 in the front on the engine, the single wire controls the temp guage, the 2 wire is coolant temp to ecu. If they die the engine overfuels as it thinks it is way to cold. If you have a scan tool that can connect to the car your should be...

Need to check it when engine is cold and the fault occurs

Check what the coolant temp sensor is reading in live data

    2007 Holden VE SV6 LY7 poor idling

Dont fire the parts cannon off its an expensive game that. Check what sort of g/s the air flow meter is registering, maybe give it a clean if it has a k&n filter as the oil can contaminate it Check advance/retard of each cam in the scanner see if anything stands out, I know i can see that...

Can still be stretched and out of time without a rattle. Have you checked the misfire counter in live data on the autel to see if any specific cylinders are dropping out?

Hahaha no beginner I know has an MDI 2 In regards to checking the chains we circle back to checking the oil pressure, the 3 chains all use an oil fed tensioner, if you have low oil pressure the chains will not tension properly, will make noise and can be damaged

Thats just an updated calibration, allows a bit more tolerance in the chain wear before it triggers a fault. You have access to TLC tho so your way ahead of a lot of people. Are you using tech2win for diagnostics?

    2007 Holden VE SV6 LY7 poor idling

Yeah hopefully not, id be looking at oil pressure,if your pressure is ok replace the sensor, then check timing related stuff, they can do some really funny things when the vct gears or oil control valves for the gears go, but it is more likely a failed chain than those 2. All of the above I have...
