This is a thread that keeps on giving!
My 2012 Sportswagon developed the tailgate not opening problem after a wash this week.
Found this thread and used the info from kwaka738 and Dvskiwi to do the $4.95 AUD fix. Everything on and off without breaking anything and it now works perfectly.

Thanks for this post. I just replaced mine as it needed help, and a push for the last foot or so.
Back to their original springy selves now. Mine lasted from new in 2012, although the tailgate needed help for the last 3 years at least before I got around to fixing them. See how long these last.....
Hi Krusing, it took a while to work through, but I’ve decided to give up on it.
Holden dealer would not agree to fit a secondhand part. Their reason , that they would have to warranty it if they fitted it doesn’t hold water. I have taken the vy there from new but now will go elsewhere.
I found...
Hopefully find out tomorrow. I pulled the ecu out yesterday and will get another one tomorrow. One plus is that the annoying noise and message has stopped with the ecu coming out. I could almost leave it there, but might as well fix it properly now....
Edit 6 Feb. Turning into a bit of a saga...
I don’t think they are selling a part. It looks to me that you pay, then they give you an address to send your ecu, they reflash it with your VIN number and send it back.
Just starting to look for a replacement ecu, came across this on thE bay

Do I need to programme a new ecu, or is this for something different?
Thank you very much Krusing and Rossi! I’ll get on to it. Now I am clear what I am looking for I’ll locate it and check the connections, then replace the module if it still shows the fault.
Not today though..... it’s bl@@dy hot here in Adelaide. I’ll let you know how I go.
My Series 2 Sportswagon has (had) a warning sensor for if something wandered into my path when reversing. A year ago it stopped working. Not particularly bothered, but it has a warning buzzer that sounds whenever I start and there is a warning in my dash all of the time about it. This is...
Thank you for that!
Was going to get a rubber boot mat - and it is a really good point that you make about the OEM - I'll head that way.
It comes with the reversing camera in the dash, but the mirror option sounds like a great idea - is this something that I can add in, or is it something that...
Done it!
Got a bit of an extra thrown in, and the package was good value anyway.
Being sourced from Qld at the moment, and wll need the towbar added etc next week.
Interested in tint maybe - but will wait and get it later.
First new car for me - will be interested to see how it goes.
Thanks for...
Hi Folks, I am seriously looking at upgrading to a Berlina Wagon as the current offer from Holden looks pretty good.
I am happy with the 3litre offering, and the lure of being the first to fart on the drivers seat is almost overwhelming :lock:
Question is - are there any real issues with this...
Holden feed back from fuel service - impressed!!!
My asking the forum about this seems to have raised a bit of a hornets nest. I thought that I should let you good folks know the feedback that I got back from the Holden service manager yesterday.
Service manager emailed me ,explained that...
Nup. No test, just a 'should be beneficial'. Incidentally, mine is certainly not running leaner after the work. Was good before and about the same or a tad thirstier now.
I realise now that I should have queried or just said no - but when called at work while busy I was caught off guard.
I just had my VY serviced (90,000km) at Holdens and encountered the following:
I was telephoned during the service to ask whether I would like to have a further service provided - fuel system - Costing about $200. I was busy at the time and agreed to this. In retrospect, I am a little...
Try lubricating it
I had this problem with my front passenger door. My mechanic got me to use a small amount of lanolin type spray on just the knob and moulding behind it. Seems to have fixed the problem for the moment.
