    Ute throttle cable ?

Yeah I had noticed that their adverts didn't specify "not for utes" either . I figure some one may have come across an issue if some places are saying not for utes ?

    Ute throttle cable ?

Hey peeps. Can some one help me with a throttle cable question. What is different about a ute 304 throttle cable to a sedan one etc ? I see plenty of throttle cables for sale but a lot say except for ute ? What's the go ? My VR ute with 304 is fraying at the throttle body end and figured I...

355 new build , MLS head gaskets ?

Good news , well I think so anyway, calc says 10.14: 1 . Got bearing clearances all measured and crank installed. I had to fit up a piston and see where it sat, 15 thousandth's down the hole giving 10.14 to 1 CR as per calculator , that's with 40 thousandth's Felpro head gasket compressed...

355 new build , MLS head gaskets ?

Thanks man , great advice. Yep you have it right , just a fun car and probably just over thinking it at the verge of starting to measure and assemble . cheers

355 new build , MLS head gaskets ?

Hey guys. I'm a little worried I won't get the most out of my new build CR wise with 41 thou Felpro head gaskets. Calc tells me I should be right at around 10:1 with felpro's , making a small assumption here on the deck height as I had it deck skimmed only and haven't started assembly at all...

Flexible trans lines vs hard lines ?

Yeah cool , thanks for the feed back . I was thinking steel lines are probably more reliable as long as not rubbing on something sharp and wearing away . When I dropped engine and trans out I found them a bit of a pain to deal with and wondered if it was going to be wise to change them out ...

Flexible trans lines vs hard lines ?

Gidday. Anybody got any experience with flexible transmission lines to cooler/radiator as opposed to the factory hard steel lines ? I have my engine and trans out currently and wondering if now is the time to change them over if people think the flex lines are better and what you have found to...

    304 Machining costs ?

Yeah I've read quite a bit of discussion on here about newer camshafts compared to the older grinds and to be honest I'm really none the wiser. I have a fear of going too small , ie sounds too tame but also really don't want to over do it and loose performance/drivability because of it. A...

    304 Machining costs ?

And I forgot, yeah getting kit from machine shop. Sorted final details today for pistons etc . Still not sure on a cam. He has good Ooollllddd 286 cams there and has a bit of a soft spot for them I think . He wasn't fussed at all if I wanted one or went on my way searching for what I wanted...

    304 Machining costs ?

Nah she dropped off now. Yeah have a plan for if I need to do more clearance work, will just slide a cam in bearings then all good , crap can't get into bearings/oil galleries .

    304 Machining costs ?

It is one of the VR blocks cast with stroker relief already . Machinist did mention that it may need some more work for clearance but I'm ok to do some small extra relief work if required. I have it stripped down and cleaned roughly and plan to drop it off tomorrow to him with any luck.

    304 Machining costs ?

Just had a quote from a machinist for prepping a 304 block for me to fit 355 kit. Honestly I was a little surprised but the last time I paid for a block prep and balance job on a 308 was a long time ago . Anyway , does anyone have any idea of current pricing or has had same things done recently...

Stroker kit for tired engine ?

I sort of knew the exhaust was going to be an issue but figure that is easy to fix after engine build and refit, also the ute isn't registered so another jump to hurdle probably before exhaust etc . I really haven't thought about diff ratio yet at all, I've seen plenty mention it and now makes...

Stroker kit for tired engine ?

Well good news on the block front. Can only measure a max wear of 12 thou in worst cylinder with worst noticeable lip, cylinder number 2 on this engine. Will contact machinist tomorrow and see what he suggests, I was thinking maybe go to 30thou over size to ensure good clean fresh straight...
