What octane fuel do you use?

My mechanic who is one from car carby days states that E10 is yes definitely a lower octane but is in no way a "dirtier fuel". In fact ethanol is very clean but unfortunately it is also classed as a solvent which means if you have any crap in your tank, which most do, it will dissolve and passed...

VE S2 REDLINE,16 wks for cable harness replace, 1 hr on road bent pushrod

Sorry guys but it seems to me most of us are missing something here. I've had two oil pressure switches go faulty in two different makes and models and both times the dash let me know with "check engine". No strange noises or problems running. Take it straight to my mechanic, about 2km, he plugs...

Harrop making more power than magnuson

If I remember correctly there is a difference in head design from L98 to L77. L98 are cathedral shaped ports and L77 have rectangular shaped ports that are supposed to be better. I would say the difference lays there.

    Thermo fan overide.

I am an electronics engineer and probably wouldn't do anything to change the way the car was originally designed. You all understand research and development. If a car runs hot it's for a reason, providing makeshift fixes is like giving morphine to a cancer patient, only the symptom is fixed not...

    SS ute prices VE era?

I bought a 2012 VE SS Z series ute in 2018 for 23.5k. 77k on the clock. Auto. It came with OTR air intake and 2.5 inch cat back xforce exhaust. Have since added stainless xtractors. These cars are awesome and an actual pleasure to drive. Keep in mind that independent rear end makes driving a...

    Hoon Driving

Hooning is a result of high density living. Back in the very early 70s I was taught to drive on dirt and gravel roads at the age of 12! We lived around 30km from Sydney! Try that today. The point is that there is no where for young people to actually learn how to control a car. They are thrust...

Thanks Perkz, I suppose it should mate, only has 45k on the clock. Always garaged and the front quarter is clear wrapped.

The short shifter is a genuine walkinshaw, the cam is a Howard's Lift: .578 / .587, Duration @ .050: 226 / 232, Centerline: 108, Aggressive Street/Strip, Mid torque & horsepower, Needs good heads. This set-up is the prelude to the W407 released in 2011. All work performed by Castle Hill...

    HSV Advice

My 2011 Ls3 Clubby is manual, has cam, ceramic extractors, 3 inch exhaust and all the good head gear. Produces 339 RwKw, approx 407kw engine hp and is absolutely brilliant to drive. It actually sounds and goes like a super car. The mods were done when car was almost new and still only has 45k on...

Does untuned better flowing intake result in loss of low end torque

Air flow and fuel are the first two parameters the ecu looks at after the engine fires up. If either is in any way different to what has been set in the tune, the ecu will try to compensate for the irregularity. I'm thinking if you increase airflow, the ecu will compensate with more fuel which...

    VF 2 ls3 ssv. Custom tune + otr 246rwkw.

My VE 2012 Z only gained about 3kw in power but 48Nm of torque when I fitted xforce tri 17/8 polished stainless headers and legal high flow ss cats to existing xforce 2.5 back.

    VF 2 ls3 ssv. Custom tune + otr 246rwkw.

Nothing is too loud.....until it's opened up!. Better breathing will improve overall performance of any engine especially when it's done at the heads. I personally don't think leaving standard cat back on will make any real performance difference but will almost guarantee to keep it quiet at...

Engine stall after hours of driving

Could possibly be an alternator issue.

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Yes exactly!! Although a local in Tennant Creek said the reason they were limited at 3200 in top was that rear gearbox bearing couldn't be trusted after that!
