ok, I have a vq s2 caprice. on the front I have 225/50/16's on the rear I have 225/60/16's I can drive under 100klm/h all day long with no problem, no ABS error light. Within 1 min of driving at 100 klm/h, I get ABS error light. Match my tyre profiles back to 50 all round, No more ABS error.

i'll put money on it being a welsh plug. if the one leaking is in a spot that requires you to pull the motor out, you may as well renew all the rest of the welsh plugs whilst your at it. Factory ones are pressed steel and rust out when you haven't been using coolant. Replacement ones are brass.

IF you do use the ebay custom shroud, at least yank the cheapo fan motor out and use one out of vs v6 or vt or au or ef/el....

sit it against your radiator and trim anything that's not needed. you wont use any of the original mounts on a vb but it wont take you long to work out a way to attach it.

is the door lock "deadlocked"? when you lock with the key, if you turn it just a little bit further it deadlocks them so central locking wont unlock them. Mine are badly adjusted so to unlock the deadlock it feels like you're either going to break your finger and thumb turning the key or snap...

I modified a VS v6 thermo setup for my VH SS, works fine for me. Don't use vn-vr as the fan motor will never clear the water pump pulley

sounds like the same clearance issue when fitting say VS series 3 caprice wheels onto a vn-vp-vg-vq. The bearing cap pushes the centre cap off the wheel. Some rims you can get away with flattening the end of the bearing grease cap cover.

I"m sure you can get a 4l60e rebuilt much cheaper than the 4k posted above. VKberlina had the 4l65e in his adventura rebuilt recently for under 2k with some improvements in strength and shift patterns and this is on the Central coast where there isn't really any worthwhile places to get work...
