I had mentioned it in another post but it was ruled not a factor due to the dash OBD and fuel pump not working before I even tried to start it up without the earth. Auto Sparky said it could have effected the ECU but not the BCM, forget I mentioned it.
Seems contradictory to what else I've read but I understand it, it does seem thick for a street car.
Will look into the oil pressure testing, any idea where to test oil pressure? The oil pressure sensor is a prick to get at on the back of the intake.
No idea, was able to borrow a bcm and key from a wrecker mate to try. Auto sparky linked it and she was away. I pulled the board out of the case and didn't see any sign of damage. I'd say something got fried when I tried to start the engine and forgot the main earth, either that or sitting for...
I have got my VY SS LS1 Auto Commodore running after buying it in pieces and almost 2 years of not running.
The engine came out to do all the gaskets and seals.
Have driven roughly 500 ks since the engine has gone back in.
I have noticed a ticking/ knocking noise that comes and goes.
In the...
That video has reminded me of something.
I brought the car with the engine out as a forgotten project.
One of the first things that happened was windscreen was replaced with the previous owner's insurance when I first got it and he needed the window up so I put a battery in it and wound the...
Cheers that’s a huge help will definitely look into these guys over the weekend.
I have been probing from the front with a fine probe but I did try the back of the obd port as you recommended because of a potential loose pin.
I supposed it doesn’t matter because everything has shown up fine...
Hi, I've got a VY SS LS1 Auto.
No crank, no ignition, no power windows, and no power to the OBD port.
Both BCM and PIM have 12V and good ground.
From what I can tell the OBD port gets power from the PIM so I assume this is faulty.
I externally powered the OBD power pin and this caused the...
OBD port is only getting 1V, pulled the PIM and it has good 12V and Ground and pins 15 and 16.
This suggests to me that PIM is the issue according to this https://injectronics.com.au/resources/blog/holden-commodore-vy-vz-pim-module/
I just ran external power to the OBD power pin and the...
Pulled it out, and BCM seems to be getting power. Using this diagram I found pins 13 and 22 both had 12V constant but pin 2 (accessory) had no power not sure if this is output from the BCM.
But that seems to be good, opened up the BCM and no sign of issues nothing burnt out...
Couldn’t find a detailed pin out that matches the wires I’ve got. This is the only related thread I could find https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/vz-uart-input-for-factory-headunit.290963/
Would that wire not being connected cause an issue? I can’t imagine that would cause the OBD port...
