Ive overhauled the master cylinder on the vc and bled the brake but I still have and ordinary pedal and crap stopping power
What gives?
Maybe you should bleed more than the brake, maybe you should bleed all the brakes

Seriously though if you overhauled the m/c it would pay to bleed that independently first, place a rag under m/c, loosen pipe nuts, get assistant to press/hold brake pedal, then do up pipe/flare/nut and repeat process all m/c lines until you get clean stream of brake fluid without any froth or air bubbles.

Don”t forget to keep topping up plastic m/c reservoir or else you will be in the same sh*t your complaining about having no good brakes.
If that fails, time to take it to a professional brake workshop and get them to do brakes properly as they are not worth f*cking around with yours/others well being.

It’s got discs front and rear
The pedal has to be almost on the floor before it pulls up
Nothing wrong with discs pulling up a carby VC V8 even if its a hdt model, its like not a 300kw VL turbo

There"s your problem @ pedal to the floor = m/c overhaul

Can that get rego'ed it has drum brakes it must of been originally a 6 cylinder? Didn't every v8 commodore have disk brakes all round?
If hes lost the reaction disk you wont notice until you start the motor the brakes will want to put you thru the windscreen. The last time I drove my disks all round VK I thought it was a bit under braked compared to everything else Id been driving. I now think the same about the hIlux I drive thinking about upgrading its brakes

I don't know the answer to any of those questions.

I think the 253 powered Commodores had drums, with disc optioned on the rear....

Having 4 wheel discs on my 6 banger VC, with the VT upgrade, I still think my VY is better in the brake department......But I still have good confidence with them

Are you sure about that?If any 253 commodores had drums on the back it would be only a few hundred vb's all the vc 253 commodores I ever remember seeing had disks on the rear with the small diff. Have you put the correct master cylinder that goes with the vt calipers on yours yet?

I just recall reading years back to do with brake upgrade requirements with an engine change for a roadworthy in S.A, that if a 253 was fitted, drums would suffice and if it was a 308/304, discs were a must...

What M/C are you referring to....If it is a VS style, nope...Never intended to.....1" bore, yup.....Minor improvement over the 15/16" And to be frank the minor is really minor...Barely notice the difference.....Doing the braided brake hose upgrade was better....
